Kapten Röd – Ju Mer Dom Spottar / Sweden (with translation)

Kapten Röd is a big artist (more than 2 meters or 6.8 foot tall) who is dedicated to making dancehall reggae with a positive message. Many of the songs on his first album (Stjärnorna finns här – the stars are here) deals with how the modern industry wants people to feel bad about their own selves so that they will by beauty products or have plastic surgery. Many texts are also criticizing the government and leaders for not focusing on what is important, that is how people are  feeling these days. It is also about how we should think for ourselves and not follow anyone blindly.

I have translated this son from his last album “Fläcken som aldrig går bort – the stain that never goes away.

Kapten Röd – The More They Spit (My translation)

hold on tight to your good friends because there are lots of snakes out there
go with those that wish you well even if your pockets are empty
forget the ones who wish to put you down, erase bad minded dudes
the more they spit at me the faster I will bloom

erase, erase, erase, erase them
there are too many oppressors
erase, erase, erase those
who stab you in the back when you turn around

we see them right from the start,
their eyes speaks another language
and quickly it shows that the most rotten heart has another shell
we erase all the tongue twisters
who get full on other people getting hungry
they want to see us as another building block in their system
so we chill even more.
but the pit they dig they themselves will fall into
when they fight to protect their hierarchy
because what do they think will grow where so much hate is sown?
please think in other ways I beg you

hold on tight to your good friends because there are lots of snakes out there
go with those that wish you well even if your pockets are empty
forget the ones who wish to put you down, erase bad minded dudes
the more they spit at me the faster I will bloom

put your sight on something positive
because we don’t have time to bite each other in the back
yes, I see them but I choose just to look past them
can’t let them steal my energy
no, if they want to hold you down and watch you wither
then use their hatred as a spark
because we grow in the light that sipper from darkness
so of course they want to see our boat sink
but I don’t see them on my radar
so it doesn’t matter how many trolls are hating
I just never return their stares
no, any gold digger friend I will never miss
no, a good friend comes first
who will be by your side when summer turns to fall
shine on them and let them grow
don’t have any hatred in my chest
The captain does not want any gold digger friend
he can ride alone on his tandem back to home

Saknade vänner – missed friends.

This one is about friends that are lost to drugs and how we still miss and love them.

1.000.000 nollor – 1.000.000 zeros

“No matter how you add them they will still be none” The song is about how easy it is to become homeless, how someone who has been bullied his whole life will eventually explode, how we have to take responsibility for each others. Stand up for your friends!
